How To Build A Ball Arsenal

This ball provides me with a lot of control. I can also hold the same line for a longer time compared to some of my other reactive resin balls.
The only downside is that while I love the grey color, it gets dirty quickly.

This ball covers the lane brilliantly. I have been switching over my arsenal to Motiv and this ball works like a charm. From the consistency with rolling smoothly to the pin carry. If you don't have this ball you are certainly missing out!

Core: Gear
Type: Symmetrical
Coverstock: Frixion M4 Solid MCP
Box Finish: 1000 Grit LSS
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIp-chyuZf8
Layout: 45x 4 ½ x 70
Strengths
Microcell Polymer Frixion M4 Solid at 1000 grit box finish is even at the breakpoint, it offers much more ball motion than what Purple Tank offered.
The ball motion of Carbide Tank is very early and continuous, it has more backend to that of Purple and Blue Tank.
Weaknesses
I wasn’t successful using Carbide tank on high friction patterns as it read the land too early for my liking.
Overall Summary
The Carbide Tank provides more complete ball motion than any previous Tank, if you missed the motion you saw out of Tank Blitz and you want a bigger motion I encourage you to take a look at Carbide Tank
Your game will thank you for it.

The ball is pretty good but as the cover starts to tame down, all the strong reaction I see at the start is gone, after a few games on the fresh the strong reaction is all gone, it became a typical urethane probably with a 100x10x200 layout, only hooked in the back causing me to play my angles really tight. Also leaves a lot of splits but not much 10 pins, great ball if you were to play really straight but don’t recommend if you’re trying to open up angles quite a bit. Would be great on sport patterns where everything else fails, this would probably do the job.
Hello All. I write this review now with about 2 months of ownership using primarily on house shots and a variety of surface finishes. Now before I get into my raving about how good this ball is please know I am not a staffer and I don’t normally pump equipment. I’m a little of the tribe that believes there’s no bad equipment just bad matchups. Your typical bowling enthusiasts gainly employed enough to enjoy drilling lots of equipment.
My Carbide Tank is drilled pin up 4.5” x 35deg VAL, approx. a 2.25” pin buffer for the VLS crowd. I’ve got a pretty decent rev rate 475rpms but a little on the softer side of the speed ranging from 15.7 to 16.2 comfortably at the breakpoint. Out of the box the 1000 grit finish is a lot for the heads of a house shot but the reaction is still shockingly smooth and continuous. Unfortunately at this grit the ball will create quick transition and if bowling 4-5 person league may not be useable beyond the 1st game. Even while increasing my axis rotation from inside angles I wasn’t able to consistently carry the corner, nothing unexpected from a ball of this design.
The next test set we laid out another fresh house shot but this time took the finish up to 3000CTD (creating the difference) pad to start. This allowed me to start much closer to the friction 13 to about 5-6 while still seeing the continuous hook phase with a plenty of punch to carry. I barely moved in all 3 games of practice which gave me some confidence with this surface prep for league play. I was able to stay in the Carbide for almost the entire set and it was a gem at controlling the wet/dry transition. General reminder to always adjust surface finishes as needed before giving up a ball.
The ball simply oozes control and forgiveness while still giving you the hook you want. By no means should this piece be mixed up with urethane or even condition specific niche bowling balls. The reaction is nostalgic of the 2000s era proactive days and I love it! The only downside to MCP is that Motiv never has enough of them active in the lineup at once.
My favorite Motiv release since the Sigma Tour. Don’t sleep on this one!
